Korg has released the NC-Q1, its latest over-ear headphone designed for use by DJs, front-of-house engineers and musicians.

The NC-Q1 comes with live environment-friendly features such as Smart Monitoring and Sound Enhancing functions that allow the wearer to customise the amount of external sound that bleeds in. Wearers can also control which earcup to monitor cue audio and ambient sound without removing the headphones.

The presence of internal and external microphones bolsters the NC-Q1’s distortion-free ANC (Active Noise Cancelling) capabilities, automatically adapting to the environment while suppressing a wide frequency range, says Korg. An attenuation function also means that the NC-Q1 is well-equipped to handle extreme noise.

A 41mm custom PEEK high-grade film diaphragm gives the NC-Q1 its wide frequency and harmonic response as well as wide dynamic range. The headphones are also capable of reproducing high-resolution audio and comes with two wired audio inputs so you can physically connections to decks, audio players and interfaces without latency.

The NC-Q1 also comes with a suite of features that make it suitable for everyday use. A multi-function switch allows the user to toggle between play, pause and track skip functions. Removing the headphones will also automatically pause audio playback, and resume when they’re back on your head. Bluetooth connectivity and voice assistant support (Google Assistant and Siri) allows for wireless and hands-free operation, while an adaptable ear cushion and over-the-ear cup design provide long-lasting comfort.

The Korg NC-Q1 will be available in February for $350. Find more information from Korg here.
