Available across iOS, Android and Windows, Mazetools Mutant is a unique music creation app that uses hypercubes, or tesseracts (four-dimensional cubes), to create and manipulate sounds and beats. The app encourages you to combine musical forces with friends via a live Collaborative mode, you just need to be on the same WiFi.

Mutant records and plays back music using loops, giving you the chance to jam with different instruments on the fly. Each of the seven tesseracts represent a different ambience, with each one being home to six instruments, with four controls for rhythmic impulses, acoustic spaces, filters and effects like chorus and vibrato, plus envelopes to modulate parameters of the effects.

Once you have an idea laid down, you can effortlessly switch between eight variations of it that differ in chords, speed and pitch. By swiping the tesseract to a different perspective, your composition will change instantly. You can tap the hypercube to add percussive elements, and enable a Weird Mode to get experimental sounds right off the bat.

You can easily your sessions and sounds by taking snapshots of your settings to return to it later. You can export your session to a .WAV file to use it in other audio applications and DAWs. Best of all, you can get it for no more than £4.79.
