MFB release SYNTH PRO, an eight-part analogue synth

MFB, a Berlin-based synth manufacturer founded in 1976, has launched SYNTH PRO. It’s an eight-part hardware analogue synth that is a more advanced, polyphonic version of its SYNTH II, which is now discontinued.
SYNTH PRO uses components that were present in some of MFB’s designs 40 years ago, which they claim “produced a great analogue sound”. The oscillators are discretely structured and can be switched to DCO operation in instances where “unfavourable environmental conditions have to be overcome” the company explains. Available waveforms on the VCOs are sawtooth, triangle, pulse, with a ring modulator and noise that can be crossfaded in. Each of the oscillators can also be set to become sub oscillators.
Moving onto the filter section, SYNTH PRO features a 12-dB multi-mode filter with parameters for cutoff, resonance and contour, with a 24-dB low-pass filter just below with cutoff, resonance and contour as well. The filters can also be tracked with keyboard values with the push of a button.
The synth has three envelope generators, two featuring ADSR and the other ADR, each with a loop function. Two LFOs feature selectable waveforms of saw, square, triangle and random, with tempo sync and one-shot mode available. An onboard effects section lets you add reverb, echo, chorus and flanger. SYNTH PRO sports an integrated arpeggiator and polyphonic step sequencer too, making this quite a versatile machine.
Patches can be stored and recalled, with a display in the bottom left for scrolling through patches and parameters. The device can send and receive MIDI CC,t too. Made in Germany, MFB SYNTH PRO is available at €1080 through the company’s dealers such as Juno and Thomann.
