Music-sharing platform Mixcloud has launched ticketed live streams, dubbed Tickets, with proceeds going to artists and right holders. The first artists to perform ticketed shows will be Flying Lotus, Lafawndah, Leon Vynehall and Roisin Murphy.

Mixcloud has been pro-active during the pandemic, launching initiatives to support artists and swiftly unveiling Mixcloud LIVE. Primed for DJs, performers and radio shows, the service has been a viable option for those looking to stream to listeners without copyright takedowns. This is thanks to Mixcloud ensuring rights holders are paid if their material is played.

Ticketed streams, albeit an invite-only addition to the service, will continue in this stead, paying artists and rights holders by charging fans for access. There are plans to open up Tickets to all Pro and Select users, but this is currently being trialled on an artist-by-artist basis.  Artists and DJs looking to get early access to Tickets can apply using this form.

Lafawndwah will perform the first show on 25 October, followed by Flying Lotus on 31 October, Roisin Murphy on 14 November and Leon Vynehall on 21 November. Check out the line up below.

“Launching Tickets is our next step in helping artists and creators generate new income and building out a full-stack music platform, with creators at the core,” says Mixcloud CEO Nico Perez.
