It’s happened again. Kanye West has missed the scheduled release date for his much-anticipated 10th studio album yesterday, leaving fans to awake today to find: no Donda.

West premiered Donda to 42,000 fans at a listening party at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia and livestreamed the event on Apple Music.

As expected, the album’s non-launch has prompted both disappointed and amused reactions online, with some fans took to West’s latest Instagram post to comment. “Did we seriously just get finessed again,” one disappointed fan wrote.

West and his crew were rumoured to have been working on Donda even after its premiere at the listening event. Producer Malik Yusef seemingly confirmed this in an update he shared to Instagram earlier today (24 July): “Still working but almost done, we appreciate y’all patience on bro nem #DONDA #badkids #goodmusic”

Podcaster Ross Bolen suggested legal clearance for the samples and features on Donda could be part of the reason for the delay.

“Kanye was writing and collecting features right up until the listening party began,” Bolen wrote in a tweet. “which means it’ll be a while before those features and samples are cleared legally for release, which means we have no idea when anyone will actually be able to stream it.”

Others have just poked fun at the situation. Long-time fans of the rapper weren’t too surprised, some even lauded West for the delay. See some of the best reactions below:
