Spotify has entered the virtual concert market with the announcement of five shows held in May and June.

Tickets for each virtual show are priced at $15 each and won’t require an active Spotify subscription. Fans can look forward to “40-75 minutes” of material from artists during each show, according to the streaming platform.

Despite the series being ‘livestreamed’ at a specific times, shows will be pre-recorded. With that said, Spotify claims the shows will provide fans with a unique way to experience their favourite artists, while staying cautious during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We know that fans care deeply about supporting artists and connecting with their music through live performances,” Spotify said in a statement. “And while some parts of the world are beginning to open up, we recognise not everyone is comfortable with or able to attend in-person events just yet.

“These shows will allow fans to experience and support their favourite artists while immersing themselves in a performance-style experience they crave.”
