Streaming platform Tidal has introduced two new curated playlists for its users: Contributor Mix and History Mix. Contributor Mix will help spotlight behind-the-scenes musicians and producers, while History Mix will let users delve into their own listening history with the streaming platform.

With Contributor Mixes, Tidal hopes to spotlight more of the creative contributors involved (behind-the-scenes) in the music-making process – from background singers and lyricists to producers and mixing engineers.

The platform will curate these playlists based on a user’s listening patterns, with Contributor Mixes potentially spanning various artists, as well as genres. Each mix will feature the most popular 25-50 tracks, taken from a creative contributor’s discography.

This follows the brand’s introduction of interactive credits in 2019, and works to provide users with a better understanding of the music-making ecosystem. Additionally, Contributor Mixes will be available on some artist pages for additional discovery opportunities.

History Mixes on the other hand, are personalised playlists derived from a user’s listening habits as far back as 2018.

The All Time playlist will be based on a user’s top 200 tracks from the day they signed up for Tidal. Yearly playlists highlight a user’s top 100 tracks streamed over the past year, and similarly, Monthly playlists showcase a user’s top 50 tracks from that month.

Speaking about the brand’s newly added playlist options, TIDAL COO, Lior Tibon, said:

“With the launch of Contributor Mix and History Mix, TIDAL is continuing its commitment to offer members the best avenues for musical exploration by recognising the team behind a hit track and deepening the connection with their favourite artists.”
