Tidal has introduced Credits, an interactive feature that aims to highlight the unsung heroes who have contributed to musical works.

Displaying track credits is not new for Jay-Z’s music streaming service. Tidal lets you view contributors – via an info icon – on selected albums/tracks. However, the new Credits feature is arguably more comprehensive as it not only reveals the projects an artist has worked on, but also highlights the specific role they played.

Credits starts on an Artist Page, where you can tap on roles under the artist’s name. You’ll then be directed to an artist credit page, where you can filter roles according to categories of Musician, Songwriter, Production and Misc. The last of these covers art direction, A&R and other roles not directly linked to a track. The credit page also lets you filter the artist’s track contributions by release date, popularity, title or artist.

Artist Pages are currently populated by headline artists and prominent producers/engineers. However, with Tidal’s continuing works with artists and labels to expand its credits database, we can expect more obscure additions to Artist Pages in the future.
