NAMM 2020: Universal Audio is teasing its latest release, dubbed Luna. Details on the new product are scant – we don’t even know whether it’s hardware or software (or a combination of the two) but it’s got our attention.

Before we get into wild speculation territory, here’s what we know so far. On the NAMM landing page on the Universal Audio website, there’s a close-up of a couple of control knobs, one prominently marked ‘Oscillator’. Up until this change, there was a short video of a reel-to-reel tape machine.

What could this mean? Could it be a hardware-accelerated DAW? Could it be a new DSP analogue synth platform? Whatever it is, we can’t wait to see it and will have more details tomorrow.

Universal Audio’s Luna launches Thursday 16 January at 12.30pm (PST). Watch this space for an overview/demo.
