Novation Launchpad X & Launchpad Mini

Novation’s Launchpad has no doubt made its mark on Ableton Live users and MIDI controller fans since its arrival back in 2009. With several updates over the years to its 8×8-grid flagship product, along with the Launchpad Mini series, Novation has now unveiled the Launchpad X and Launchpad Mini MK3 to celebrate ten years of the landmark product.

Launchpad X

Launchpad X is designed for live performance, featuring 64 RGB backlit pads that are velocity and pressure-sensitive providing fast clip and scene launching. Drum and Note modes offer automatic switching between percussive and melodic instrument triggering, and the Capture MIDI button means that you won’t lose an idea if you forget to hit record.

The Launchpad keeps your performance in key with Dynamic Note and Scale modes, making it easier to improvise and perform without hitting the wrong note. Transport controls are kept within reach, as usual, with stop, solo, mute, record arm, volume levels, pans and sends along the side of the controller. The controller features USB-C connectivity, and no drivers to install, letting you get tapping straight out of the box, and spending time away from the mouse.

Launchpad Mini MK3

Launchpad Mini MK3 is Novation’s solution to a portable and powerful controller, with 64 RGB pads, just like its big brother. The RGB pads are designed to match the colour of your clips and scenes in Ableton Live, making it easier to see what’s happening in your session. Drum and Note mode are also featured on the Mini, along with transport and performance controls, again negating the need for keyboard and mouse,

This generation of Launchpad is not just catered to Live users, however. With customisable MIDI mappings via Novation Components, you can take control of almost anything with a MIDI port. Send out MIDI CC data, notes and program change messages, and use rows or columns as faders. Both Launchpad models come with a software bundle, including Ableton Live Lite, a range of plug-ins by AAS, XLN Audio, klevgrand and Softube, two months free subscription to Splice and membership of Novation’s Sound Collective.

The two Launchpad products will be available at the Novation eStore, or through Novation stockists.
