PlugInstall lets you load new Logic Audio Unit plug-ins without restarting

Who doesn’t love new plug-ins? We do. But when you’re running a Mac, there’s one wrinkle: you have to restart your machine before they’ll appear in your DAW. And, frankly, who’s got time for that?

Well, there may now be a solution in the form of PlugInstall that lets you install and use new Audio Unit plug-ins without ever having to restart your computer. Just run the software after your installations and then they’ll appear in your DAW.

All japes aside, this little $1 piece of software could legitimately save you some time here and there. And, while it’s not strictly exciting, it might be more useful than you immediately think. Especially so if you’re the sort of person who endlessly snoozes system updates and a restart will mean – heaven forbid – 20 minutes of hanging around.
