Known for its eclectic range of sleek Eurorack devices, Qu-Bit Electronix has just unveiled another unique module. Surface is a multi-timbral physical modelling voice that is designed to recreate the sounds of acoustic instruments but boasts properties that can manufacture weird and wonderful synth textures.

The range of physical models includes plucked strings, prepared piano and melodic percussion, with up to eight voices of polyphony. According to Qu-Bit, Surface sports true stereo outputs and uniquely configurable specialisation modes. It adds that “Surface provides a unique take on physical modelling which blurs the line between emulation and synthesis to create entirely new worlds of sound”.

Parameters for Tone, Strike, Model, tuning and Decay can all be controlled manually or via CV. There’s a Choke input to quickly silence decayed sounds, a single V/Oct input for pitch and a Trigger input.

Surface is a 10HP Eurorack module with a depth of 28mm. Qu-Bit is now shipping the module and is available for $299.
