Pioneer DJ’s rekordbox 6 gets an update to 6.0.1, which brings an interesting new feature to assist DJs in achieving a smoother mix.
Vocal detection software in rekordbox 6.0.1 analyses tracks and indicates where vocals appear on the waveform. According to the brand, this is achieved with “AI technology with deep-learning capabilities embedded in the software’s new music analysis algorithm”. Pioneer DJ collaborated with Japanese tech company, Qosmo, to bring the feature to life.
By receiving a visual cue when vocals are about to come in on a track, DJs will be able to avoid two vocal lines clashing in a mix. rekordbox users with a Creative subscription can take advantage of this new feature, which is currently available at an introductory price of £10 per month.
Also new to rekordbox is support for Beatsource LINK, which is Beatport’s service for open-format DJs. With Beatsource LINK, you’ll now be able to stream tracks directly from the platform. rekordbox’s Performance mode will now also show Beatport LINK’s curated playlists for quick access to new tracks.
The XDJ-RX and RB-DMX1 devices have been added to the application’s Hardware Unlock device list, giving owners of the products access to some Core plan features for free. Read more about rekordbox 6’s new subscription plans here.
