RhythmBud is an iOS app that can take your MIDI arrangements and add rhythms that you create and edit in the timeline editor. The app lets you alter the MIDI sequences of other apps, with inter-app audio and Audiobus, plus support for Ableton Link to stay in sync with other apps. You can also hook this up to external gear and add rhythm to MIDI messages being sent to hardware synths.

The app comes with a selection of ‘modes’ which instantly add rhythm. These modes let you create arpeggios and strum patterns, with offset and note-order, or you can modify the velocity of your incoming notes and add ratchets and transposition. You can also record a pattern by tapping the toolbar, letting you create rhythms by clapping your hands.

With the snapshot feature, you can save a rhythm as a snapshot, and quickly switch between these snapshots with ease. This can be controlled with MIDI messages too, which could be a handy feature if you’re performing with iOS devices on stage.

The app is part of a series of music apps by KeyBud, including ArpBud, ScaleBud, StepBud, ChordBud and FretBud. RhythmBud is available for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch devices running iOS 11 or later. It runs as an AUv3 plug-in, and supports Audiobus 3 and IAA.
