Sampleson Things GUI

Sampleson have released THINGS, which uses images rather than oscillators, envelopes and LFOs to create interesting sounds. Essentially, the plug-in has seven preset sounds, or ‘Descriptors’, which can be blended together, and manipulated with a small set of parameters.

The Descriptors are labelled as Crystal, Rubber Bands, Horror, Air Stream, Clouds, Arcade and Alien Talk. Each sound contains its own set of parameters that can be adjusted to one’s taste. A small preset library is also featured for swift sound selection.

Below the sound selection interface is an arpeggiator on/off switch, and five dials which control Sync/Manual Tempo, Saturation, Reverb, Stereo Width and Main Volume. The arpeggiator contains an interface that allows the user to change its settings, including octave range, steps, shuffle, note shift, note velocity and note length. There is also preset settings within the arpeggiator.

Sampleson have said about the plug-in: “THINGS allows you to create hi-quality synth sounds even if you have zero experience in synthesis”. The synth is available at an introductory price of $19, and will soon move up to the regular price of $39.
