Edinburgh-based Skoogmusic is back on Indiegogo with a new controller: Skwitch, a one-button MPE controller that “makes music-making easier than ever before”, the company says. Skoogmusic’s first product was aimed at simplifying learning music for children and young people in special education.

Skwitch takes a similar approach, in an effort to create a device that makes music creation and expression more accessible with just one button and an iPhone app – no cables or batteries required. The large, soft button on the device is MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) enabled, and velocity-sensitive. With mappable modulation, realtime step sequencing and pressure-sensitive arpeggiation, Skoogmusic says Skwitch is “arguably the most compact and inexpensive way to add wireless hardware control to your music-making setup”.

No knowledge of theory or technique is required to get started with making music on the device, just a desire to get playing. With the iOS app, notes can be drawn up to create melodies, chords and sequences, allowing freedom of experimentation for the curious mind.

Skoogmusic has launched its Skwitch funding campaign on Indiegogo, with current super early-bird pricing starting at £22. The campaign ends on 7 November 2019.
