It’s been 25 years since TC Electronic first introduced the mastering hardware unit known as Finalizer. The Danish company has now opened a new chapter in the rack unit’s history with the Finalizer App, a next-gen mastering suite for desktops.

The Finalizer App features an array of the ‘best’ multiband compression, limiter and EQ algorithms developed by TC Electronic. These algorithms were ported 1:1 from the brand’s System 6000 mastering unit, which is regarded as the most advanced of hardware Finalizers. You’ll also be armed with new presets – based on “complex analytical findings – and real-time visual feedback designed to show you how mastering decisions can affect a song.

In addition to its mastering options, the Finalizer App also boasts a free online analysis service. This lets you upload your tracks to a cloud, analyse them with visual tools and finally compare them to TC Electronic’s reference tracks. According to the brand, these pre-analysed reference tracks span different genres and time periods, and are also updated quarterly.

The Finalizer app is available on both macOS and Windows. You’ll also need to have an iLok account to use the software.

Here’s an overview of the Finalizer app:

Available at $99 (RRP $199). More info at finalizer.com.
