Toontrack adds bass to its EZ lineup with EZbass
Dial in two classic bass tones with Modern and Vintage sound libraries
Virtual instrument expert, Toontrack, is back with a brand new instrument in its EZ lineup. With EZbass, Toontrack aims to offer a virtual bass guitar with a pristine sound that can be easily implemented into your music.
Those familiar with EZdrummer, EZkeys and EZmix will know how simple it is to compose parts with the Toontrack interface, and EZbass follows suit. “In essence”, the brand says, “EZbass gives you a bass player at your beck and call – 24/7”.
The Add Groove button lets you quickly create a basic rhythm, set the chord progression for your song and tweak your performance in the Grid Editor. A bank of MIDI files gives you access to a variety of playing styles to apply to your chord progression.
Tap in the rhythm you want your bass to play using the Tap2Find feature and then have EZbass list all matching variations from its included MIDI library. You can also hook up a MIDI controller to get hands-on with EZbass, or use the drum or keyboard MIDI in your track to have EZbass automatically create a matching bassline. A previously recorded instrument can also be converted from audio to MIDI with its Audio Tracker feature and played back.
EZbass’ two sound libraries offer fundamentally different tones; Modern replicates an Alembic bass, while Vintage is based on a classic Fender Jazz bass. Both guitars were recorded and captured with an “exceptional level of detail along with the most all-encompassing set of articulations you need to produce stunningly real performances for anything from subtle jazz to extreme metal”, Toontrack says.
Toontrack EZbass is available to buy now from UK distributor Time+Space with an SRP of £129 / €149 / $149. For more info head to timespace.com
