Waves Audio releases MultiMod, a distortion and saturation plug-in suite
The rack includes Berzerk, Abbey Road Saturator and MDMX distortions.
Waves Audio has combined three of its new distortion units to create the MultiMod Rack, including Berzerk, Abbey Road Saturator and MDMX Screamer. The multiband modulation suite allows producers and mixing engineers to craft a palette of versatile distortion effects with precision.
Berzerk is a destructive plug-in that can create wondrous tones with some tinkering, Abbey Road Saturator is an analogue modelled effect that is inspired by classic Abbey Road EMI tech, and the MDMX effects give you a selection of classic distortion colours. Waves states that “the unique combination of diverse distortion colours, all working side by side, makes MultiMod Rack the most versatile distortion and saturation suite in existence”.
MultiMod’s three slots allow you to work across three frequency bands with adjustable crossover controls on low, mids and highs. This kind of flexibility means you can get the heavy lows of Berzerk, crunchy overdrive of MDMX on your mids and analogue-sounding warmth from Abbey Road Saturator on your high frequencies. You can, of course, reshuffle these to your taste, with each band offering control for level, pan and harmonics, giving pinpoint accuracy to your tone shaping.
Five modulators are onboard Multimod to expand creative dimensions across every parameter in the distortion units. You can modulate every setting on Abbey Road Saturator, MDMX and Berzerk with an LFO, sequencer and amplitude modulation, as well as a post-processing EQ section.
