Waves AUdio Flow Motion FM Synth

Waves Audio has added the Flow Motion FM Synth to its growing line of virtual products. The new release combines a suite of functions with an intuitive UI that aims to make FM synthesis “playful and easy”.

With the Flow Motion FM Synth, Waves Audio is making a daring move to integrate elements of FM with analogue-style subtractive synthesis. So while you’re experiencing an all-new inventive graphic frequency modulation matrix on one screen, you’ll also get a more ‘traditional’ workflow on the other.

There are two types of screens: Flow and Motion. On the former, you have access to four powerful mono/polyphonic oscillators with independent waveform and pan controls. Modifying assignments between these oscillators is made simple with four independent floating LFO/envelope modulators that have drag-and-drop capability.

The Motion screen, on the other hand, gives you an added layer of control over filters, amplitude, EQ and effects in what Waves Audio describes as a “traditional subtractive way”.

Additionally, there’s a 16-step snapshot sequencer that allows you to capture 16 different states of the synth and toggle between them in real time. With 16 recallable snapshots per patch, the Flow Motion FM Synth allows for quick, on-the-fly creation.

If that’s not enough, the hybrid synth also has an additional 16-step note sequencer/arpeggiator and built-in effects for even more depth and variety.

Here are the other highlights:

  • Hybrid FM synth combining FM and subtractive synthesis
  • Intuitive graphic FM modulation matrix with instant visual feedback
  • 1,000+ strong preset library, including exclusive artist presets
  • Four high-resolution oscillators
  • Four flexible LFOs and envelope modulators
  • 16-step snapshot sequencer: sequence up to 16 recallable snapshots per patch
  • Built-in note sequencer/arpeggiator
  • State-of-the-art studio-quality FX
  • Use as standalone instrument or plugin, in the studio or live
  • NKS-ready for NI Komplete Kontrol and Maschine
