Tracklib has announced its latest Beat Battle competition, this time in collaboration with Nas, Run-DMC, Jay-Z, and Kanye West producer, Pete Rock. The sampling platform will award the winner of the Beat Battle with a production session with Pete Rock, along with a signed Akai MPC Live II Retro Edition, worth $1,400.

Producers can enter the Beat Battle by downloading and sampling the song that Tracklib is providing: Handle With Care by Ben Aiken. The song is available to download as a 12-track multitrack file, giving you access to the individual recordings of violins, guitars, bass, tuba and more.

Once you’ve made your beat using samples from Handle With Care, you’ll need to post a video of your song with the hashtag #peterockbeatbattle. You’ll also have to include your Tracklib account username or email in the post description, and tag two producer friends that should join in on the competition. You’ll have until 28 November 2021 to submit your beat.

The producer who claims first place will get a little more than the one-on-one remote session with Pete Rock from his studio and the MPC Live II Retro Edition. They will also receive a video shout-out from Pete Rock, a one-year standard subscription to Tracklib and a Tracklib Category C Sample License, worth $50.

Two runner-ups will also get a one-year standard subscription to Tracklib, a video shout-out from Pete Rock and a Tracklib Category C Sample License.

Pete Rock seems chuffed with his collaboration with Tracklib. “I think Tracklib can change how people make music by letting the freedom of sampling take place,” he says.
