Dutch musician, songwriter and producer Albert Harvey has worked with some of electronic music’s biggest names, including David Guetta, Nicky Romero, Armin van Buuren and more. This new three-and-half-hour course from Faderpro and Armada University sees Harvey creating a heavy, main-room house/pop track from scratch using Ableton Live and a few third-party tools.
There are 16 chapters, which start with building melodic ideas and chord progressions before covering how to add synths, pads, drums and bass. Later chapters fill out the arrangement with more details, including a vocoded vocal, and finally work towards a mix and pre-master. The pace is a little slow at times as Harvey experiments with ideas. However, there are plenty of useful tips throughout, and it’s interesting to watch the track take shape.
