Producer Catching Flies gives an in-depth deconstruction of his melodic and percussive track Mama’s Wisdom in this new tutorial from Producertech. The course is split into three modules, starting with the construction of the drum and percussion parts, then moving onto the bass, synth, Rhodes and drone parts, before the melodic elements including the chopped vocals and layered guitars.
There are plenty of useful techniques here, including sound design using reverbs, ideas for layering sounds, and inventive ways to create vocal rhythms. It might have been nice to do a track run and talk a little about the arrangement choices, but this is a decent and well-presented tutorial that comes with 207MB of hits and loops.
