This new pack from Loopmasters finds expert drummer Mark Fletcher in full breakbeat mode with a collection of 270 live funk and soul drum loops, which are split into five folders covering tempos from 61 to 138bpm. There are a range of styles on offer, from tighter grooves to fuller shuffles, with playing that’s loose enough to feel live and funky, but tight enough to fit into modern productions.
Of course, there’s always audio quantise for those who want things bang on the grid. There are several different drum sounds, plus dry and wet versions for each loop, providing a chunky and punchy sound that’s full and rounded yet open enough to take some dynamic abuse, should that be your thing. Some grooves have several variations, which helps when arranging a track, although we would have liked to see more fills.
