ModeAudio’s latest takes its influences from the off-grid, hip-hop grooves and sun-soaked synths of the LA Beat scene. You have the option of standard WAV or REX versions, but if you opt for the ReFill or Live Pack formats, then you get some additional patches and project files. There are 14 Construction Kits, plus individual folders of rich, analogue basslines, wonky drums, deep keys and pads and warped FX.

Arguably the best folder, though, is the collection of atmospheric synth, guitar and organ riffs, which drift somewhere between mysterious and melancholic. There’s also a decent handful of saturated and unique-sounding drum hits, a folder of Tail samples to bring the other loops to a smooth conclusion and a bunch of useful MIDI files, should you feel the need to add some quantise! It’s not a giant pack, but the production is detailed and thoughtful throughout, resulting in plenty of evocative and inspiring-sounding riffs.
