Sample Magic’s best-selling Hip-Hop series returns for a second outing, and contains 1.4GB worth of dusty instrument loops and crunchy beats in the style of Bonobo and Quantic. You’ll find tight live bass, deep and thoughtful keys, synths and pianos, and a range of guitar chord hits and moody chord shots. The drums come with full and component parts, and are well programmed, but with a slight over-reliance on snare rolls and flams. Elsewhere there are 25 music kits that don’t always hold together, but include some excellent textures and song starting riffs. There is also a bunch of chunky drum hits with sampler instruments, 25 Serum patches, and 92 MIDI files, plus custom bass and chord racks with FX for Live, Logic and Reason. Although not perfect, this is an inspiring treasure trove of sounds with some excellent vintage processing.
