MIDI controllers are a great way to get hands-on and perform with Ableton Live – but what if you don’t have access to one? Fortunately, Live 10’s Key Map Mode lets you assign the keys of your laptop or desktop’s keyboard to commands in your project. In this week’s Ableton Live Tutorial video, Liam O’Mullane shows you how to activate Key Map Mode and how to use it effectively across a host of devices and parameters.

You’ll also learn how to capture your keyboard performances in the arrangement window to start laying down the foundations of a track. When you’ve got a great keyboard setup, you’ll want to be able to recall it – Liam shows you how to save it as a template to load up in other projects.
