Welcome back to Point Blank’s weekly spot here on MusicTech – this week we’re sharing a live tutorial from our Academy of Electronic Music hangouts.

The Academy of Electronic Music, a collaboration between Google, DJ Mag, Armada Music and Point Blank, kicked off back in September, and for the past two weeks, Point Blank have been hosting a series of hangouts with the seven finalists, giving them and their YouTube audience a sneak peek at the Electronic Music Composition course hosted by course tutor Ski Oakenfull. The course is one of Point Blank’s most popular and covers everything you need to know about songwriting and music theory, and how to apply it to your tracks.
In part six of our EMC hangouts, Ski deconstructs Armin van Buuren’s track Waiting for the Night and explains how its interesting and more complex chords play a big part in the appeal of the track.

All hangouts are archived here so get comfortable and get learned. And don’t forget Point Blank are broadcasting live every day at 3pm until November 11th, so make sure you subscribe to our YouTube channel so you never miss a beat.
