Point Blank present an indispensible new tutorial covering vocal placement in a mix. Without further ado, let’s handover to Ganesh Singaram

Vocals can be the heart and soul of your mix; the part of the track the ear is immediately drawn to. It’s also one of the hardest parts to mix, with variable volume, timbre and tone throughout a performance. Sitting the vocal within the mix, especially with electronic music, can be a challenge and can make or break your track.

Point Blank’s expert sound engineering instructor Ganesh Singaram (Pharrell Williams, Swedish House Mafia, Kanye West) explored vocals in the latest Friday Forum Live, where gave you tips and techniques for balancing vocals including EQ, parallel processing, spatial techniques and more. He’s also provided a project for you to practice everything he’s talked about – download the project here.

If you want to study sound engineering with Ganesh at Point Blank London, as well as mixing, sound design, music business and much more, their Music Production and Sound Engineering Master Diploma covers everything you need to know to take your productions to the next level. Taught over one year in PB’s award-winning school in London, it’s one of their most comprehensive courses – find out more here and make sure you subscribe to Point Blank’s YouTube channel for more tutorials and live events.
