Apple’s 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro 2021 models reportedly arriving autumn 2021

The leak arose from Eurasian Economic Commission documents

New filings by the Eurasian Economic Commission have seemingly revealed the autumn 2021 launch of Apple’s new MacBook Pros. According to the leaks, the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models will drop with the upcoming macOS.

As reported by Consomac, the documents show the two Apple devices have been authorised for sale in Russia. The models are named A2442 and A2485 and are listed as running macOS 12 – also known as macOS Monterey.

It’s not distinctly clear that these are the new MacBook Pro models but, given that the model numbers are brand new and do not correspond to any other Mac model, it’s safe to assume these are the highly-anticipated MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch models.

Rumours of the new MacBook Pros have been circulating since May 2021, with Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman claiming that the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models will launch before a new MacBook Air, low-end MacBook Pro and a new Mac Pro.

More recently, Twitter user Max Balzer discovered that Apple tagged its keynote presentation on YouTube with meta tags including “m1x macbook pro” and “m1x”. The tags hint at an advancement of the powerful M1 chip found in Apple’s latest MacBook models. The new processor is rumoured to boast greater speed and performance for professional tasks than the M1 chip – which is already pretty powerful.

According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the new models will ditch the curved design and opt for a more flat-edged aesthetic, similar to the iPhone 12. It will also omit the OLED Touch Bar, returning to a function bar with physical keys, and revive the MagSafe charging connector while offering more ports for hooking up external devices.

Apple is expected to reveal its new products sometime in October, when the Cupertino company usually launches a new macOS.
