That’s it, folks. The final curtain has fallen on Superbooth 2019. We’re already excited for next year, though. This year’s show was a veritable cornucopia of bleeping, growling and droning synths, sweeping filters and modulation delight. Here are some of our favourite pieces from our last day at the show.

Moog Matriarch

Based on the popular Grandmother, this fully analogue four-voice paraphonic synth has all the Moog-y character you could ask for. We hear the stereo filter sections, the new bucket brigade delay and more in our demo.

Daniel Miller’s collaboration with Future Sound Systems

Another highlight of Superbooth’s third day was the chance to talk to Daniel Miller, founder of Mute Records, about his new collaboration with synth makers Future Sound Source. The resultant modules, based on Miller’s spec, offer advanced muting and sound-shaping controls.

Ableton CV Tools beta

All you need is Ableton Live and a DC-coupled interface, and you’re ready to start controlling you modular rig from your Live session. The way that this Skinnerbox collaboration impresses is in the way it manages to benefit not just modular users but also in-the-box musicians.

Pioneer DJ Toraiz Squid

This powerful hardware sequencer manages to be both approachable and weird enough to be truly useful. One of the top features is the Time Warp function that lets you jump back several bars if you play something that you want to keep.

Percussa SSP Granular synth module

It’s not just the new granular DSP synth module that impressed us today at the Percussa booth, though that may be the most noteworthy. It was, in fact, how little self-noise the SSP produced that really impressed us.

Check out the highlights of Day 1 and Day 2 of Superbooth.
